Hydro Smart Meter Install. I

Hydro Smart Meter Install. I thought you would be curious about certain residents in Innisfil that need to pay for installation of Smart Meters. I was told that there is about six house's that need to pay for the installations because they are considered difficult installations (Shallow Boxes) so the residents need to pay and cover all costs. Why should I do this, I have never been late on my hydro payment, the old analog meter I currently have works just fine. I did not ask to have these new smart meters installed on my house so why am I going to have to pay! I get a chuckle when reading about people complaining about about hydro charges, amagine having to dish out out $1000.00 to $2000 dolars to have the smart meter installed. I have done nothing since receiving this letter last year, I still don't have the smart meter on the house yet! I am very intersted in hearing from other Innisfil residents that needed or need to go through this process and want to let them know not to go ahead with it! You can contact me at tamronhi@yahoo.com Thanks

I'm actually wondering about

I'm actually wondering about the photography for this paper. Innisfil Scope is proudly put in my mother store here in innisfil in Hand Over Time, Crossroads plaza. I've been wondering who does the photos? as I am interested in getting my name out there as a photographer. I own my own Nikon D60 and am skilled at Photoshop CS4 and numerous other computer programs. Is there job openings?

Hi there, Unfortunately, we

Hi there, Unfortunately, we do not have a position open at the newspaper at this time. In future, feel free to submit a resume to The Scope, or contact me directly at 1-888-559-2287. The comment board really isn't an appropriate place to ask about a job. Thanks very much for your interest in the newspaper. Take care, Chris Simon Editor, The Scope

I would like to discuss the

I would like to discuss the new YMCA. I am a member of this facility. I have a real problem with how much they are charging for their membership fees. I was told that they offer a discounted rate for those who can not afford it. I handed in an application with all my monthly income and expenses only to be told that there was nothing they could do for me because they felt I had enough money at the end of the month to pay the full fee. I am a person on E.I. who only makes a couple hundred a week and is saving to go back to school in a month. When I told the lady I was saving for school she said "While I think that's great, unfortunately there is nothing we can do for you". It states on their website that no one is turned down by their inability to pay the full price. I told her that in a month I could prove to her that I would be in school but that didn't seem to be good enough. This facility was built to serve all of Innisfil residents but the gym is by far the smallest I have seen. There are approximately 25 cardio machines and 15 weight lifting machines. If there are more than 40 people in the gym at the same time then people have to wait to use machines because the gym isn't large enough to accomodate a larger number of people. I was told that they were thinking of adding 5 more machines but there isn't enough room for them, people will be crammed into this place like sardines. They need to put up signs over the weight machines stating that there is to be "no sitting on the machines between sets" as people will sit there for over a minute while their muscles rest before doing another set. No one is able to use these machines. It takes some people 10 minutes to complete all of their sets. I have gone to the gym and not been able to use a machine because there is a line up for it and I just don't have 10 minutes to waste on each machine. They have a track over top of a hockey rink which is a total waste of space as hardly anyone uses it. If they want to run or walk then they use the cardio machines. I was also told they might put a 25 minute max on the cardio machines because there just isn't enough of them for people to use. The gym over looks the pool. While this cosmetically may look nice, why do people exercising need to watch people swimming? They should have extended the gym above the pool area to make better use of the space. There are HD TV's on all the cardio machines. This feature would be nice if they actually got more than 6 channels and 2 weren't fuzzy. Why was all this money spent on HD TV's if they weren't going to hook it up properly? They should have saved the money and lowered membership fees. They are missing the fact that people WANT to SAVE money these days. It's a shame when you see people listening to their IPOD's or MP3 players instead of watching the TV's because they can't find anything to watch on them. To me this is just wasting money and hydro. The price per month totals $48. When signing up you need to pay your first month and a one time fee of $75 for the "building fund". That's $123 before tax. If you drive 15 minutes to the south end of Barrie you can join Ultimate Fitness, they are open 24/7 for $7 a week. That's $28 a month and no sign up fees. They don't have a pool but I would rather save $20 a month then have the option to use the pool at the YMCA which I have not gone in once since joining the gym. Yes having the option to use it is nice, but it should only be an OPTION. If you want to use the pool you pay an extra fee and the memberships should be lowered by $15-$20 for those who do not use it. Why should I pay for a pool a don't use? I am completely outraged that we pay for a gym that is lacking in space and equipment yet we are charged almost $50 a month. I feel the town has really dropped the ball on this YMCA and we are left paying for a mediocre facility. Does it make sense that ONLY 40 people out of the town population of around 32,000 can use the gym at the same time? I am sure you get letters like this all the time but I don't understand how the town can listen to people complain and not do anything about it!
