ISSUES & INTERESTS FRIDAY MARCH 19 The Innisfil Lioness monthly progressive euchre tournament will be held at the Lions Hall on Innisfil Beach Road. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7:30. Euchre pots, a light buffet, snacks, prizes, a cash bar and draws will be available. Admission is $10 per person, and everyone is invited to attend. Euchre is held on the third Friday of every month. For more information, call Debbie at 436-1256. SATURDAY MARCH 20 Cookstown United Church will host a St. Patrick's stew and lasagna supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Homemade pies will also be available. Admission is $11 for adults and $5 for children ages six to 12. Kids under six eat for free, and no reservations are required. The church is located at 37 Queen Street. The Innisfil Historical Society will host its next meeting at the Knock School at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Ellen Millar, assistant archivist of Simcoe County, who will talk about the records held pertaining to Innisfil. She will also discuss how the archivists look after records, along with what residents can do to provide proper preservation of their own keepsakes. Everyone is welcome to attend. SUNDAY MARCH 21 Innisfil Leos Charter Night will take place at the Lions Hall in Alcona, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The evening will include dinner, cocktails and an auction. Dinner is $15 for adults, or $7 for children under 10. Reservations must be made before March 16. For more information, call Lynda Haskin at 431-6231. FRIDAY MARCH 26 Laestadian Lutheran Church in Cookstown will display Scandinavian Easter treats. Browse an assortment of homemade breads, Finnish pulla, cookies and cakes. A dinner of Swedish meatballs, or Karjalanpaisti, will be served on Friday, while a brunch is planned for Saturday. Friday's event runs from 3 to 10 p.m., while the brunch takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 424-7124. SATURDAY MARCH 27 Grange Café is back and so is Poor Tom, along with other local performers. The event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m., with plans to observe Earth Hour. Only a limited amount of tickets will be sold. Admission is $10 in advance, or $15 at the door, and refreshments will also be available for purchase. For more information, call Andrea or Ken Simpson at 436-7171. St. John's Presbyterian Church, located at 2940 10th Sideroad in Bradford, will host a ham dinner. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Continuous servings will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the church's Community Meals program. For more information, call 905-775-7274. FRIDAY APRIL 2 In Search of Jesus', an outdoor familythemed event, will take place at the New Life Church property, located at 6881 Yonge Street, in Innisfil. Tours are free and run continually from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants are asked to park at Sunset Speedway. For more information, visit http://insearchofjesus.info. FRIDAY APRIL 9 Musical Variety Night will take place at St. James United Church, located at 2230 Victoria Street West in Stroud, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature young and old local performers. Admission is $8. To enter the talent night, call Donna at 436-2578. For tickets, call the church office at 436-5225. SATURDAY APRIL 10 Lefroy United Church's spring market will take place form 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. New and used items will be sold, and a bake table and a lunch counter will be available. Vendors are still needed, and table rental ranges from $20 to $25. For more information, call Marilyn or the church at 456-7508 or 456- 2098 respectively. Junk or Jewels, an antique assessment event, will take place at Knock Schoolhouse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is hosted by the Innisfil Historical Society and the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario.
