Paddlers still welcome

Barrie - The Children's Aid Foundation of Simcoe County announced that the Full Moon 24 hour, 250 kilometer Dragon Boat Relay is still accepting paddlers. The annual fundraising event for the Foundation promises to be bigger and more fun than last year.

June 17th and 18th are the dates set for the 24 hour event that includes much more than paddling. The participants on the 12 teams will have hot tubs to relax in, live music to listen to, games to take part in and food from some of Barrie's best eateries. The event will take place on Kempenfelt Bay in Barrie.

"What's great about dragon boating, the fastest growing sport in Canada is that you do not need experience or be in perfect physical condition," said Wayne Hubbard, President of the Foundation. "You simply

need the enthusiasm to join a team and have some fun while raising money for a great organization."

The entry fee is $50 per person, which can be paid by calling (705) 726-6587, ext. 321 or at the Children's Aid Society office located at 60 Bell Farm Road, Unit 7. More information and registration forms are available online at www.simcoecas.com, click on the Full Moon.

The Children's Aid Foundation is the fundraising organizer of the Children's Aid Society of the County of Simcoe. These funds go to support programs that benefit the children the Agency works with in prevention, recreation, education and enrichment. The goal is to raise $200 per kilometer. Businesses, individuals, and community groups can make a pledge by calling (705) 725-2700.
