Essa to see new bank

Essa residents will be seeing the opening of first new bank in the township in over 40 years.

TD Canada Trust submitted an application for a site plan agreement last Wednesday night to construct a new branch at 180 Mill St. in Angus and will be located north of the existing Tim Hortons restaurant.

TD Canada Trust plans to build a 4481 square foot building on the .6 acre property with a drive-thru ATM machine.

Council gave its support in principle for the proposed site plan application.

The bank has had preliminary meetings with both township and County of Simcoe staff which have found few problems with the proposal.

The property is already zoned C2 Core Commercial Zone which permits banks and other financial institutions.
