Mayors' Walk, an invitation to get out and active on the Trans Canada Trail

The annual Trail Day presented by the Thornton-Cookstown Trans Canada Trail committee takes place Saturday June 17, 2006 and incorporates the healthy living principles of Good for Life's Active Family Challenge through the 9 km Mayors'Walk with Mayor David Guergis of the Township of Essa and Mayor Brian Jackson of the Town of Innisfil. Join us for a day of fun activities:

8:30 am Field Naturalists Walk Cookstown Trail Pavilion

10 am Essa & Innisfil 9km Mayors'Walk Thornton Trail Pavilion

11:30 am - 1 pm BBQ Lunch & Children's Activities Cookstown Trail Pavilion

1 pm - 2 pm Native Wildflower Planting A shuttle bus will bring participants back to Thornton at 12:30 pm, 2 pm and 2:30 pm.

The main event is of course the 9 km Thornton to Cookstown walk which gets under way at 10:00 AM and people are asked to gather at the Thornton Pavilion on Robert Street just prior to fill out a ballot for a draw to win prizes donated by Good for Life.

NVCA will also take place following the barbeque. The planting site is at the trail off Wellington St. in Cookstown. Planting materials will be supplied and all those who wish to help beautify and enhance the biodiversity of the trail are welcome to join in.

And for the Nature Lovers and Early Birds, feel free to join the Brereton Field Naturalists of Barrie, on their trail walk, starting

at 8:30 AM at the Cookstown Trail pavilion on hwy 89 (across from Tim Horton's).
