South Simcoe Police

Bail Violations

On June 6, a Bradford woman contacted police after being contacted by her ex-common law husband contrary to bail conditions. The accused party is currently charged with Criminal Harassment and as part of his release has a condition not to contact the victim. Police learned that the accused had contacted the victim on several occasions. The accused who resides in Angus was arrested by OPP at his residence and subsequently turned over to South Simcoe Police. A 34 year old man is charged with Breach of Undertaking. He is being held in custody for a bail hearing on June 7.

Bail Violations

On June 6, South Simcoe Police attended a Cookstown residence after receiving a report of a domestic dispute taking place. On arrival officers learned that the female occupant of the residence contacted police after her estranged husband who is residing in a separate area of the residence told her a break and enter was taking place. Police established that no one had tried to break into the residence. Further

investigation revealed that the male occupant who had been drinking was on conditions not to consume alcohol as a result of an Assault Charge. The accused was arrested for Breach of Undertaking. A 60 year old Cookstown man is being held in custody for a bail hearing in relation to the charge.

Theft of Motorcycle

On June 7, at approximately 11:10a.m. police were called to a residence on Mapleview Dr in the Town of Innisfil regarding the theft of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Two males were observed in the area in an older model black pick up truck and a short time later the motorcycle was observed being driven away from the residence. At approximately 12:45p.m. South Simcoe Police located the motorcycle on Leslie St in the Town of Innisfil and the driver was arrested. The motorcycle had already been stripped of some of it's parts. The black pick up truck was also located in the area and the driver and an occupant were subsequently arrested. Police have charged a 25 year old Toronto male and a 34 year old Toronto male with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and Theft Over $5000. A 31 year old Innisfil male has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

On June 7, South Simcoe Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in a gravel pit located on Concession Rd 4 in the Town of Innisfil. Police located the vehicle which was a red Plymouth Voyageur van and found it had been stolen from the City of Barrie. The van had been damaged and an ATM machine also stolen from a senior's home in Barrie was recoverd in the vehicle. The investigation is continuing...

Domestic Assault

On June 7, at approximately 7:40p.m. South Simcoe Police attended James Street in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury regarding a male that was chasing a female down the street. Police located the female and learned that the couple had been in an argument and when she tried to leave, the husband chased after her and pushed her to the ground. Police have charged a 30 year old Bradford male with assault and he is scheduled to appear in Bradford court on July 6.

Theft Over $5000 & Possession Over $5000

On May 25, South Simcoe Police attempted to stop an ATV driving on Dissette Street. The ATV failed to stop for police and it was subsequently involved in an accident. Two male occupants fled on foot after the accident, but police were able to arrest one of the males at the time. An arrest warrant was obtained for the second involved party. On June 8, 2006 the second involved party turned himself in to police after learning that he was wanted by police. A 17 year old Bradford youth has been charged with Theft Over $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, and he is being held for a bail hearing later this date.

Motor Vehicle Accident

On Sunday June 11, at approximately 12:47 p.m. the South Simcoe Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on the 20th Side Road of Innisfil between the 2nd and 3rd Concession. Upon arrival, they discovered that a blue Pontiac had lost control and stuck a hydro pole. The vehicle had been traveling south bound when the driver became distracted by a dog in the car that was acting up. As a

result, the vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole. The resulting collision caused a power outage throughout the area for more than an hour.

As a result of an investigation, a 61 year old female from Innisfil was charged with Careless Driving.

Uttering Threats

On Sunday June 11, the South Simcoe Police were called to a Bradford West Gwillimbury grocery store after a check out clerk called to express her concerns about the well being on an elderly female. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 49 year old Bradford male had attended the store and was going through the check out with his groceries when he struck up a conversation with the clerk. During the conversation he expressed anger over having to care for his mother and indicated he was going to kill her by starving her to death. Police located the elderly female at her residence in poor physical health. The suspect was also located at the residence and was arrested for Uttering Threats. He was held for a bail hearing on June 12th in Barrie. The victim was transported to Southlake Regional Health Center in Newmarket for medical care.

Unlawfully in a Dwelling

On June 12, police received a call to attend a Lefroy address in response to a reported Break and Enter. Upon arrival, police learned that at approximately 4:00 a.m. on June 11, a couple awoke to hear their dogs barking. The male resident checked their house, but could not find anything wrong. He then stayed downstairs to watch T.V. Approximately 15 minutes later his common law wife heard mumbling and was shocked to find a strange male in her room. He did not respond to questioning from the homeowners, appeared to be intoxicated, and was mumbling to himself. He was shown the door by the male homeowner and escorted out to the driveway. A short time later he was picked up by a pick up that had driven by and then turned around to get him. As a result of an investigation, police have charged a 23 year old male from Alcona with Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling. The accused indicated to police he had blacked out after leaving a stag where he had been drinking, and had no memory of the events. He was released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking and will appear in a Bradford court to answer to the charge.
