CHURCHILL NEWS
by Linda Gerow

We must be hardy Canadians as they say because after last weeks weather I do believe we can survive almost anything. The oppressive heat and humidity was hard to take and I felt for all those people out there with breathing problems. If you didn't have air conditioning to relieve the closeness, you had to be inventive. I felt we were fortunate that the hydro held its own. Still, what are we going to be saying when the temperatures go below zero and we're bundled up to our necks..."I wish it were summer again, it's just too cold!" Enjoy it while you can, folks, it doesn't last all that long.

Smile: A man was given the job of painting the white lines down the middle of a highway. On his first day he painted six miles; the next day three miles; the following day less than a mile. When the foreman asked the man why he kept painting less each day, he replied "I just can't do any better. Each day I keep getting further and further away from the paint can."
