Mischief To Property
On August 1, shortly before 7:00PM South Simcoe Police were called to an Alcona residence regarding a fight involving several parties. On arrival police learned from the female resident that her excommon law had attended the residence with two males to pick up his belongings. The three males started fighting amongst themselves for an unknown reason causing the female party concern. When the female party refused to open the door, her ex-common law kicked it in. The suspect was arrested at scene by police.
However, upon being placed under arrest, he attempted to flee from the officers. After a brief altercation the accused was taken into custody.
The accused was then transported to the police station where upon he then decided to flood the floor area of the cell area by plugging a drain. A 38 year old man of no fixed address is charged with two counts of Mischief to Property and one count of Escape Custody.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing on August 2.
Utter Death Threats
On July 31, South Simcoe Police responded to a residence on Adams Rd in the Town of Innisfil regarding threats. On July 29, the accused threatened to cause bodily harm to his girlfriend's 11 year old daughter who was sleeping in her bedroom. The accused initially blocked the doorway so the girlfriend and her daughter could not leave the room, but eventually the boyfriend left the room. The girlfriend and her daughter went to another room and locked themselves inside for the night. Police have charged a 37 year old Innisfil male with Utter Death Threats. The male turned himself into police on August 2, 2006 where he attended for a bail hearing. The accused remains in custody at this time.
Theft of a Paddle Boat
South Simcoe Police are investigating the theft of a paddle boat from a residence on Purvis St in the Town of Innisfil. The paddle boat was located near the beach part of the property and it was taken sometime between 10:30pm on August 1, 2006 and 8:30a.m. on August 2, 2006. The paddle boat is described as an EP78 yellow on top and black on the bottom.
Marine Unit Search & Rescue Call
On August 2, at approxmiately 8:00p.m. the South Simcoe Police Marine Unit with the assistance of the York Regional Police Marine Unit conducted a search of Lake Simcoe for a missing male windsurfer who was last seen by family off Concession Rd 6 of the Town of Innisfil as severe thunderstorms rolled through the area. When last observed, the male was hanging onto his sailboard, and he was wearing a lifejacket, helmut, and wet suit. At 9:10p.m. while police were continuing the search of the lake, the missing windsurfer who had become disoriented and separated from his sailboard, luckily managed to float safely to shore where he called his wife from another cottage. The 46 year old Toronto male was in good health and he did not require any medical attention. The missing sailboard is described as a white Mistral board with a Neil Pryde clear (blue tint) sail with pink striping.
Domestic Assault
On August 3, at approximately 2:40p.m. South Simcoe Police attended a residence on Riverview Circle in the Town of Innisfil at the request of Simcoe County Ambulance regarding an elderly female who had fallen down. The female was trying to fix a fan when she lost her balance. While the female was on the floor, her husband refused to help her up, and then he kicked her twice while she was laying on the floor. As a result police have charged a 90 year old Innisfil male with Assault. The male was released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking with conditions. The male is scheduled to appear in Bradford court on September 28.
Impaired Driving
On August 3, at approximately 10:45p.m. South Simcoe Police received information from a citizen that they had observed a possible impaired driver driving a red Dodge Ram eastbound on Big Bay Point Rd in the Town of Innisfil. The citizen was no longer following the vehicle when the vehicle was located by South Simcoe Police driving westbound on Big Bay Point Rd into the City of Barrie. The vehicle was driving erratically and it almost struck the police cruiser before being stopped. South Simcoe Police have charged a 41 year old New Lowell male with Impaired Driving and Over 80mgs. The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing later this date as he has an outstanding charge of Impaired Driving from an offence date in February 2006.
Theft from Vehicles
South Simcoe Police are investigating a rash of theft from vehicles that occurred in the early morning hours of July 3. Police observed three male teenagers in the area of Depeuter Cres and Northgate Dr in the Town of Bradford around 1:35a.m. The youths fled on foot between houses when they observed a police cruiser driving in the area. While searching the area for the youths, police located several vehicles that had been entered on Depeuter Cres and Highland Terrace. Police remind vehicle owners to ensure that their cars are locked and valuables removed from sight.
Domestic
On Friday, August 4, shortly after 5:30 am South Simcoe police attended an Alcona residence to arrest a male who had assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the eye. Both parties had been drinking and decided to go for a walk when an argument ensued leading to the assault.
Charged with assault is a 22 year old Alcona man. The man was released on a promise to appear and undertaking to appear in Bradford court in September.
Dangerous driving
On Friday,August 4, shortly after 10 pm South Simcoe police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridge street, Bradford near the Tim Hortons. Upon arrival a vehicle with four occupants was located on the lawn of the coffee shop. Investigation revealed that 2 vehicles were northbound on Bridge street entering Bradford at a very high but unknown speed when the collided with one another causing one of the vehicles to lose control and strike a third vehicle. The vehicle in question left over 100 meters of skid mark before coming to rest on the lawn. Charged with Dangerous driving is a 25 year old Newmarket man while the second driver a 24 year old Bradford man was charged with Careless driving.
MVC and Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle.
On Sunday August 6, at approximately 10:05 p.m. the accused was operating his motor vehicle and travelling north on Simcoe County Road #4 near the 10th Sideroad in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
A 2nd vehicle was also travelling north on Simcoe County Rd. #4 when the accused's vehicle approached him from behind. The accused in his drunken state was unable to judge how fast he was approaching the 2nd vehicle travelling in front of him. The accused crashed into the 2nd vehicle, from behind, while the 2nd vehicle was travelling at approximately 80 Km/h. The accused's vehicle then was lodged under the 2nd vehicle and the two proceeded north swerving wildly, sometimes into oncoming traffic. As a result of the accident only the accused was injured with scrapes to his forehead, from his head striking the windshield. The two vehicles managed to make it to the shoulder of the roadway and the driver of the 2nd vehicle observed that the accused was intoxicated. The accused began crying and apologizing and vomited as the victim waited for the arrival of police.
When Police arrived at the MVC scene the accused was arrested and taken to the Police Station for breath tests. The accused registered readings in excess of double the legal limit.
The accused, a 21 year old Innisfil man, faces charges of Impaired Operation, Excess Alcohol and Highway Traffic Act offences. He will be appearing in Bradford Court in September.
Bail Violations.
On Monday August 7, at approximately 2:30am South Simcoe Officers were checking Innisfil Beach Park at the end of Innisfil Beach Rd., Innisfil. As the officers entered the park they observed 2 young females and 1 young male peering around the Snack Bar building in the Park, acting in a suspicious manner. Officers investigated and found one of the young females in possession of alcohol. She was charged with being under 19 years and possessing alcohol. The male was checked and found to be on probation for theft under, break and enter and other property related offences. He was also currently out on bail for more theft, break and enter and other property related crimes. The youths probation and current bail conditions specifaccly stated that he was not to out past his court imposed curfew of 11pm and specifically not to be anywhere near Innisfil Beach Rd. and this was where his previous crimes had occurred.
A 15 year old male from Innisfil was arrested and held for a bail hearing on Aug 7. The youth is facing further charges for being in violation of his probation conditions and his current bail conditions.
