A fresh new look to the Alcona Business Association Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! Everyone loves things that are fresh. Fresh food, fresh flowers, fresh paint. It is amazing how a little fresh paint will re-new, rejuvenate and restore. As the preacher once said when asked his opinion about women wearing make-up, he replied, "Even the old barn looks good with a fresh coat of paint on it." I think that about sums up how we feel at the Alcona Business Association (ABA). We at the ABA feel fresh is good and therefore we have decided to revamp the ABA and give it the new paint job it is in dire need of. First of all, we have new (fresh) blood in the executive. Many extremely talented people who bring a fresh and vibrant new attitude and excitement to an old respected establishment. We have a fresh new website (www.innisfil-aba.com a great way to find local, respectable businesses). We have a fresh new logo with vibrant colours to garner more attention through the media to illicit more members. A new sign at the gateway to our community is in the works. Something that is classy yet inviting to our residents and also to our guests visiting our great town. We want the ABA to be what it intended to be, a catalyst for change, a voice of reason, a force to be reckoned with when major decisions are made that shape our community. An association that is taken seriously when decisions that impact the businesses of Alcona are on the table. A leadership role making a difference in the decisions the town makes with regard to our corner of Innisfil. Innisfil is a large area with many corners fighting for their significance. And since our society is built on the squeaky wheel syndrome, we need to squeak loud enough in order to be heard. And in order to be loud enough, we need members. Lots of members. There is strength in numbers. An impact will only be made with respect to the size of wave it can produce. So if you want to be heard by our elected officials; if you want to express your concerns and desires regarding our town; you want to simply express a great idea...then come out to one of our monthly meetings. Help us help ourselves. Put your sword in the fire with the rest of us. If you've left us, please give us a new chance. We have fresh ideas, and of course some amazing people who have contributed significantly. |
