Simcoe County councillors will be receiving a report in September which will establish the county's response to the proposed Big Bay Point development.
County decided last year that the proposal was premature until the completion of the Inter Government Action Plan and a Growth Management Study by the county. After the county sought an adjournment of an Ontario Municipal Board hearing on the project, a settlement was reached which will see the hearing begin on Jan. 22, 2007.
The county is required to have its position ready well before the hearing date to allow for proper development and exchange of witness statements.
The county's Corporate Services committee agreed last week to seeing the response presented at the next Corporate Services meeting in September with Simcoe county voting on the decision report at its September meeting.
On December 8, 2004, Innisfil council approved the Big Bay Point Resort. The resort includes 2,875 condominium
units, an 18 hole championship golf course, a marina which will dock more than 1100 boats, a 200 room hotel, a 200,000 square foot conference facility and 134,500 square feet of commercial space.
The marina village is to be located on the western shore of Lake Simcoe.
About two thirds of the 239 hectare resort will be open space.
