Break and Enter

On August 15 South Simcoe Police responded to an Alarm at Holy Cross School in Alcona. Upon arrival Officers found a rear door had the glass smashed out and the school had been entered. Officers searched the school using Canine with negative results. The culprits had left prior to Police arrival. The school sustained damage to the glass in two doors where entry was gained. At the time of the report they appeared to be nothing missing from the school

Further on August 14 South Simcoe Police took a report of damage to 5 windows at the rear of the Holy Cross School in Alcona.

Impaired Driving

On August 15 at approximately 1:54 am South Simcoe Police received a report of Possible impaired driver leaving the Georgian Downs Racetrack and Slots. Officers checked the area and located the reported vehicle on Hwy #27 at the south end of Barrie. The vehicle was stopped and the driver investigated for drinking and driving. The driver showed signs of impairment by alcohol and was arrested and taken to the Police Station for breath tests. The accused registered alcohol readings of over twice the legal limit.

A 55 year old Barrie resident faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Excess Alcohol. He will appear in Bradford Provincial Court in September.

S u s p i c i o u s Circumstance Noxious Odour At approximately 9:08

am on August 15 South Simcoe Police attended a Innisfil Medical Centre and Pharmacy regarding the report of an acid smell in the air inside the building. On arrival 3 females were observed outside the building, one of which was having difficulty breathing. She was escorted to ambulance crews which arrived with fire directly after police arrival. The main floor of the building was cleared and fire checked the interior from which a strong smell emitted. Police and Fire personnel search the entire building for the source of the smell and other possible victims.

The 3 females from the drug store were taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution. The were later released.

Innisfil Fire ventilated the building and believe the odour may have been caused by sewer gas emitting from a dry trap in the plumbing system however they were not able to confirm this.

Break and Enter

On August 15 at approximately 2:19 pm South Simcoe Police responded to the Simcoe Blvd area of Innisfil in response to youths attempting to break into a garage.

Police arrived on scene and could not locate any suspects. Police observed the residence and garage to appear to be secure. Upon checking the area for the suspects, police located an abandoned bicycle, and a milk crate containing bottles of beer. Police then observed a hammer and a crow bar located in the back yard of an adjacent property. Police observed that a screen had been broken and it appeared as if a break and entry was in progress at the residence. Police observed all three accused's in the basement of the residence and ordered all three accused's outside of the residence. The first accused came outside of the residence from the rear door and ran away from police into a wooded area located behind the residence. Police gave chase and arrested the 1st accused and handcuffed him to a bench. Police were able to arrest the 2nd and 3rd accused who were located inside the residence. The accused's were ordered outside and handcuffed on a deck attached to the property. Police then went back to the bush area to attempt to return the 1st accused to the scene, however police observed that 1st accused had escaped custody and fled on foot while still attached to the bench. The 1st accused was located a short distance later still attached to the bench.

All three accused were male youths. They have been charges with numerous property related offences. and will be appearing in Court in September.

Assault, Obstruct Justice, Forgery and Utter forged Document.

On the August 15th at approximately 7:48 pm Police received a call from that a male party described as black, wearing a green tshirt and an Afro style haircut had just punched a female in the face behind a local drinking establishment in Bradford. Upon arrival Police located the accused who was walking east on Holland Street and was identified by the description given. The accused bolted away from Police who pursued the accused on foot. The accused stumbled and Police caught the accused on Holland St. E., Bradford. The accused was arrested at 7:50 p.m. for the offence of Assault.

Police brought the accused back to the Police Station. The accused identified himself to Police using a forged Canadian Citizenship card. Police were able to establish the identification was false. Through investigation and fingerprints Police were able to establish the identity accused. The accused had used a false name and ID to conceal the fact Barrie Police held a Bench

Warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in Court for several Drug related charges.

A 31 Year old male of no fixed address is facing charges of Assault, Obstruct Justice, Forgery and Utter forged document. He was held for bail hearing in Barrie Court on August 16.

Theft under $5000.00

South Simcoe Police are investigating to separate cases of theft in which an outboard boat motor was stolen. Both thefts occurred between August 13th and 16th.

In the first occurrence a boat motor was stolen from a residence in Gilford. The motor was attached to a boat parked in the driveway at the time. The motor is described as a 15 hp Evinrude outboard motor, blue in colour.

In the second occurrence the motor was also attached to a boat parked on the property. The motor is described as a 15 hp Yamaha. Anyone with information regarding either case is asked to call police.

Impaired Operation

On August 16th shortly after 7:00PM South Simcoe Police stopped a motor vehicle on Bridge Street in Bradford. Motorists in the area were able to draw the attention of an officer on patrol to a suspect vehicle. When the officer turned around to investigate, he observed the vehicle to be weaving back and forth on the roadway. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer spoke to the male driver and having made observations of impairment, placed the driver under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The accused was taken to the police station for breath tests which were found to be well in excess of the legal limit. The accused was held in custody until he was sober enough to release. A 43 year old Bradford man is charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Excess Alcohol. He will appear in Bradford Provincial Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

Theft Under $5000.00

A pop machine was broken into at the front of a business in Churchill sometime overnight between August 16th and 17th Suspects were able to pry the machine open and removed an unknown quantity of coins from the coin box. Anyone with information is asked to call South Simcoe Police.

Mischief To Property Under $5000.00

South Simcoe Police are investigating numerous reports of property damage in the Sandy Plains area of Alcona. In most cases, garden lighting fixtures were ripped out of the ground and smashed. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Property Damage

On August 19 South Simcoe Police were called to the areas of Roughly St and Patricia Court in Bradford for reports of property damage. One incident involved eggs being thrown at a residence, ripping a screen window. The other report was for damage to a vehicle caused by someone jumping on top of a vehicle. Investigation is continuing in both incidents.

Mischief

On August 19 South Simcoe Police were called to a Barrie Street residence in Bradford for a report of a door window being broken. Police arrested a 37 year old Chicago Ill male with mischief.

Being Intoxicated in A Public Place

On August 20 South Simcoe Police responded to several Intoxicated people around the main street of Bradford. A 24 year old Bradford man was arrested after getting involved in a dispute.

Being Intoxicated in a Public Place

On August 20 South Simcoe Police responded to several Intoxicated people in the Innisfil and Bradford areas. A 52 year old Barrie man was arrested after he caused problems at a Cookstown Pub by insisting he was going to drive home.

Prohibited Driving On 20 August 2006 South Simcoe Police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the area of Victoria Street and Simcoe County Road 4 in the Stroud area. A 41 year old Barrie man was charged with Driving While Prohibited after being found driving a motor vehicle while the driver had a lifetime driving prohibition.

Domestic Assault

On August 18th, a female attended the South Simcoe Police station in Innisfil to report being assaulted by her spouse. As a result of the investigation South Simcoe Police have charge a 38 year old male from Innisfil with Assault, and Breach of Probation. The male will appear in Barrie for a Bail Hearing on August 19, 2006 .
