Pet Country Estate Raises Money for Guide Dogs Last Sunday, Pet Country Estate held a fundraiser called "Paws For a Cause," to raise the money needed to sponsor a new guide dog for the visually impaired. "We can confirm that last weekend's events were successful, and we will in fact be able to provide funding for another guide dog," said Pet Country Estate owner Liz Gordon. This is the third such sponsorship for Pet Country, who have previously provided funding for two other guide dogs; Zing and Trillium II, who now reside with visually impaired people living in Simcoe County. Sunday's events included; a tour of the estate, an agility demonstration, an obedience demonstration, a Rally "O" demonstration and a presentation from the Canadian Guide Dogs for The Blind. The mayor, Brian Jackson, was also onhand to draw the names of raffle prize winners, and show his support for the cause. The South Simcoe Canine unit also made an appearance, demonstrating just how finely tuned a dogs training can get. Constable Matt Tomlin and his dog Ronin, performed search and rescue mission in front of a crowd of on-lookers. Despite the many sensory distractions, Ronin found his target, and was rewarded with a kong toy. The generous proceeds from Pet Country supporters will be used for the general upkeep of a new guide dog in training. Final numbers have not been released as spin-off fundraisers will not be complete for until October 14. Pet Country offers registered Golden Retriever and Shetland Sheepdog pups, as well as obedience and agility training.
