Giant pumpkin weigh off at Cornerstone this Saturday

This Saturday, September 16th, Cornerstone Landscaping will be holding a Giant Pumpkin Weigh off, rain or shine, from noon until 4 pm. Giant squash can also be entered in the competition.

It is a fun family day with giant pumpkins, a BBQ and jumping castle for the kids.

Giant pumpkin weigh offs have been going on for 25 years. This is an event that is enjoyed by all ages, adults love to compete and see the pumpkins and imagine the look on children's faces when they see the giant pumpkins. There are a lot of growers in the Innisfil region and Cornerstone would love to have all participate, or have families drop by and see the giant pumpkins and squash.

They now have a 860 lb. pumpkin onsite.

Cornerstone will also have a seminar to inform and share the knowledge. Growers from all over from as far as New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio will be competing.

With prizes totalling over $2500, this is sure to be a great event for the entire family.

Contest details; First prize $1000

Second prize $500

Over $1000 in value for third and fourth place

Silver Entry $25 (weigh off includes entry into the main weigh off prizes and draws)

Gold Entry $35 (includes all of the above and Newer Renewal Membership in the Giant Vegetable Growers of Ontario, Atlantic Giant Genetics Co-operative, newsletter, articles, grower support, seed giveaways, seminars, and the Annual Patch Tour in 2007

Platinum Entry $49 (includes all of the above plus two entries and two seeds from each of the four Largest Lanterra and Cornerstone 2006 pumpkins when available)
