Maple Leaf Club news

Members met at the South Simcoe Theatre hall on Tuesday, Sept. 12,with president Doug Jacobs in chair and Peter Chirka corresponding secretary.

During the business period, general topic were discussed.

After lunch, prepared by Doug Jacobs, Peter Chirka and helped by Fran Tyreman and Eva Gardner, Richard Elines took the floor as guest speaker. Richard is a professional firefighter with the city of Vaughn and a volunteer with the Innisfil department. His talk centered on the basic rules on fire prevention, most important to have working fire alarms in al levels in a house.

Viola Currie (from Hector Smith in Cookstown) presented a smoke detector, which was won by Peter Chirka.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 26 with pot luck lunch. Bruce Hudson will chair the meeting in the absence of Doug Jacobs.
