Beeton man charged in death

A Beeton man is charged in the death of an Alliston man after allegedly driving the wrong way on Hwy. 400.

Kevin O'Toole, 42 of Alliston, died early Saturday morning after a collision on 400 just south of Essa Road when his Mercury Topaz was struck by a GMC

Sierra. He was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie where he was pronounced dead.

Barrie OPP report that Allan Mason, 20 of Beeton, was northbound in the southbound lanes. He was charged with criminal negligence cause death, impaired driving cause death and over 80 mgs. of alcohol in 100 ml blood.

Mason is in custody awaiting a second bail hearing.

Kevin O'Toole's funeral was held Monday at the John Thomas Funeral Home in Alliston.

O'Toole was an auto mechanic who owned Bel Air Auto Repair & Tire Centre in Alliston.

He is survived by his wife Sue Shacklady of Alliston and his parents and a daughter who reside in Newfoundland where O'Toole was born.

While Barrie OPP were investigating that accident a a second vehicle going southbound in the northbound lane was stopped by police.

Howard Ralphs, 56 of Parry Sound, was charged

by officers with dangerous driving, impairing driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.
