Read VBM instructions carefully

Dear editor,

As one of the candidates for this up coming election, I am very concerned about the proper procedure for marking your ballot. In a fortyseven page booklet sent to me by the town, it has one whole page of instructions for marking the ballot. It instructs you to use a blue or black ballpoint pen to fill in the oval beside the name of the candidate(s) of your choice.

The last two pages, being sample ballots, are telling you to mark an "X" in the circle. I have

called the town clerk to clarify which way is correct. He is not sure. Being involved for many years as a DRO, Poll Clerk and Poll Supervisor, it is very important to mark your ballot in the prescribed way.

In the traditional way of voting you had to mark an "X" or your ballot was not counted.

The town is spending thousands of dollars to have this mail in voting, and they can't give me a simple answer. All I can say is make sure you read the back of your ballot and follow the instructions carefully or your vote will not be counted.

I ask everyone to keep all the literature sent to you by the candidates.

Look them over carefully so you can make an informed decision.

Come out to the "All Candidates Meeting", which will be held on Oct. 19th at Nantyr Shores Secondary School. Be informed, make your voice heard, VOTE!
