South Simcoe Police Weapons Dangerous On Tuesday Sep 26, a citizen contacted police to report a suspicious person behind the Scotiabank on Holland St.W. in Bradford. The caller indicated the person was wearing a white balaclava covering his face with only his eyes showing. Officers arrived on scene within minutes of receiving the call and found the person crouched down trying to hid behind a garbage dumpster behind the bank. He was arrested without incident while still wearing the balaclava. While being searched he was found to be in possession of a concealed knife. A 13 year old Bradford youth has been charged with Weapons Dangerous, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Wearing a Disguise with Intent. MVC - Personal Injury A Newmarket man and his 2 passengers escaped serious injuries on Sept 26 after a spectacular accident on 10 Sd Rd at the 13th Line of Bradford West Gwillimbury. The man was travelling northbound when his vehicle suffered a sudden mechanical problem which caused him to loose control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered a ditch and struck a wooden pole, continued through a fence then stuck a rock, flipped over and then caught fire. The driver and passenger escaped the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by BWG Fire and Rescue Services. The driver was taken to Newmarket hospital with minor injuries. MTO blitz. Traffic officers from South Simcoe police along with members of the ministry of transport enforcement unit (Barrie) conducted commercial vehicle inspections on Thursday the 28th of September in the Bradford area. Approx 30 vehicles were inspected resulting in 10 being taken out of service. The worst of the violations was a local dump truck with 6 faulty tires. Police Pursuit A 30 year old Innisfil man is facing several charges after trying to elude South Simcoe Police on Saturday evening at approximately 8:45pm. At 8:50pm, a police officer observed a Pontiac Grand Am being operated on Innisfil Beach Road without any licence plates. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle the driver refused to pull over and took off. The officer pursued the vehicle for a short distance on to Ashley Court which is a dead end roadway. The driver was arrested without incident. The man's list of charges include Flight from Police, Operating a Vehicle Without Insurance, Driving While Under Suspension, and Operating a Vehicle With Open Alcohol. His vehicle was impounded, and he will be appearing in Bradford Court on November 6th. Break and Enter On Monday October 3, at approximately 12:43 a.m. police were called to a large commercial business in the Hwy #400 and Innisfil Beach Road area of the Town of Innisfil for a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, they observed that entry had been gained to the premies by forcing open a skylight on the roof and lowering down a 30 foot extendable ladder. It appears that the would be thieves were scared off by an audible alarm as they left behind some property including short range twoway radios. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. Investigation is continuing. |
