2006 Ontario Plowing Match results
by Susan Stein

The 2006 Ontario Plowing Match was held Tuesday, September 19 - Saturday, September 22nd at the Glen Isle Farm, a beef and cash crop farm in Keene, Ont.

It was a great success, with a multitude of plowmen form far and near, many camping with their motor homes on the grounds.

Attending from this area were Wib and Beryl Hadwen, Bill and Alwyn Thomas, Keith and Fern Robinson and son Paul, Ross and Dorothy Lange.

Congratulations to Berry De Geer, who placed 3rd in the Ontario Champion Class; Ken O'Brien of Midhurst who was top plowman, with Keith Robinson Reserve in the Antique tractor plowing competition.

Congratulations to Vanessa Klages of Bruce County, who won the coveted crown as Queen of the Furrows, competing

with 28 contestants. It was her terrific speech on "How can we best improve farming for future young farmers", her deportment and her answers at the compulsory interview by judges.

The Plowing Match concluded with a banquet and entertainment, held at the Rock Heaven Motel in Peterborough.
