Be a face in the fight against cancer The Innisfil Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society needs volunteers. The Canadian Mental Health Association of Barrie-Simcoe supports the development and continuance of self-help groups as a viable community resource for individuals experiencing difficulties. Self-Help groups can provide; support and understanding through difficult times; an opportunity to meet with others who have experienced similar difficulties; information and education; a safe and comfortable environment; suggestions regarding coping strategies that help to get through difficult times. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19TH Painswick Horticultural Society features guest speaker Lorraine Mennen, owner of Pathways to Perrinals, speak on "The top 20 outdoor rooms for grilling, dining and relaxing". Lorraine has spoken at Canada Blooms for the past fourr years and is a regular spokesperson on television. She has recently published a book on gardening. The meeting will take place at St. Paul's Anglican Church Hall and begins at 7:30 pm. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21ST The Friends of the Innisfil Public Library are having a Craft Sale at the Stroud Community Hall. Over 30 crafters will showcase their crafts including wood crafts, glass, knitting, folk art, chocolates and sampling Christmas pudding. The sale will be from 9:30am - 2:30 pm. Light refreshments are available and there will be a bake table. All funds raised go to support programs at the Innisfil Public Library. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26TH The Simcoe County Quilt Guild will meet at the ANAF hall on George Street in Barrie at 1pm. The guest speaker will be Carol Goddu who is an award winning fabric artist. She has been lecturing and quilting since 1985 and her topic will be "The Evolution of the Quilt Artist". Carol is noted for her pictoral applique and portraits, which she will be sharing with us. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27TH Newton Robinson United Church is hosting a roast beef dinner and silent auction from 4:30 - 7:00 pm. Adults are $12 and children are $6 - take out orders are available. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28TH St. Paul's Coulsons Hill Church will be holding their harvest bazaar at the church from 11:30am - 2:00 pm. There will be crafts and bake tables, and lunch will be served at a cost of $5.00. Midhurst United Church will be hosting its Annual Beef Supper (and home made pies). There will be two sittings - 5:00 and 6:45 pm. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for ages 13-18, $8 for 6-12, and $3 for five and under. For tickets call 739-6935. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29TH Innisfil Community Church will be hosting a free music concert featuring "His Season". One of Canada's premier recording artists, call as seating is limited. 1-866-436-1632. Dessert will be served. The 9th Annual Rock 95 Kool 107.5 Halloween Haunt will held at park Place in Barrie in support of the Grieving Children at Seasons Centre. Volunteers are needed to act as their favourite Halloween charactors. This is a great way to have fun and add to community service hours while making a difference in the lives of children. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH St. Peter's Anglican Church, Churchill, is holding their annual Christmas Bazaar at the Stroud Community Centre from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., upstairs in the banquet hall. St. James United Church in Stroud will be hosting their Annual Autumnfest Bazaar from 9am until 4pm. The tea room will be open between 9-10am at a cost of $1, and the lunch room will be offered between 11:30am - 1:30 pm, at a cost of $5.
