South Simcoe Police Domestic Assault On October 3, South Simcoe Police attended a Bradford residence after receiving a 911 call. On arrival officers were advised that the common lawcouple were involved in a heated argument. The male participant agreed to leave for the time being in an effort to defuse the situation. However, as the male party attempted to leave the female party first pushed the male party and then proceeded to try and kick him, all in the presents of the officers. As a result the female party was arrested for domestic assault. A 23 year old Bradford woman is charged with assault. She was released with conditions and will appear in Bradford Provincial court at a later date. Theft of auto/ possession of stolen property On October 3, an Innisfil resident contacted South Simcoe Police to report the theft of her truck. During this time police were also called to a single motor vehicle accident on Lockhart Road in Innisfil. On arrival officers located the vehicle in question along with the driver. A male youth was subsequently arrested at the accident scene. The youth faces charges of Theft and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.00 as well as a charge of Excess Alcohol. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Pedestrian Struck Collision in Bradford South Simcoe Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred October 5th in Bradford during the noonhour. Police report that the pedestrian, a 59 year old Newmarket man was crossing Holland Street West (Hwy 88) southbound at the intersection of Barrie Street (Yonge Street) on a green traffic signal. A northbound pick-up truck, operated by a 65 year old Bradford man proceeded to enter the intersection and turn left on to Holland Street West. During the turning maneuver, the pick-up truck struck the pedestrian within the crosswalk knocking him to the ground. The pedestrian was rushed to South Lake Hospital in Newmarket, and later transferred to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. His injuries have been described as life threatening. The intersection was closed for approximately four hours while a team of Collision Reconstructionist pieced the collision back together. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Constable David Phillips at (905) 775- 3311 extension # 2035. Drunk On Sunday the 8th of October shortly after 2 am South Simcoe police were monitoring closing time in the Bradford downtown area when a large disturbance got underway. Upon police arrival the crowd scattered except for one macho male who proceeded to challenge the officers to fight. The drunk 34 year old Bradford male was arrested without a fight ,ticketed for being drunk and driven home to his wife to sleep it off. Drunk/Possession of drugs. On Sunday the 8th of October around 2am while investigating a large fight and disturbance on the streets of Bradford another would be combatant became argumentative with the police and was told to go home. The man was found in the middle of Holland street hitchhiking to Keswick. Police apprehended the man for his own safety due to his intoxicated state at which point he became argumentative and was spitting at the officers. A search of the man revealed a quantity of drugs. The 19 year old Keswick man was held at the station and charged with being drunk and possession of a controlled substance. The accused's mother was called to attend the station to pick him up and he will be appearing in Bradford court in November to answer to the drug charge. Stolen snowmobile
On Sunday the 8th of October South Simcoe police received a complaint of a stolen snowmobile from the Belle Ewart area. The owner reports that sometime on Thursday the 5th of October culprit(s) stole the machine from the front lawn of a Maple Rd residence. The vehicle was a 2000 Arctic Cat, model ZR440,green in colour, clear gas tank with green plastic skies. The registration numbers are 883435 and the VIN# is 4UF00SNW5YT132327. |
