Comment Today may be the day you get it, could be tomorrow. Of course I am talking about the vote by mail kits, and with such a hot race this year, EVERY vote counts. The Vote by Mail kits were to be mailed out Friday, October 20th and residents should be getting them today if not tomorrow. The suggested date to have your vote back is Friday, November 3rd. You can mail it in, or drop it off at the town office. Those who like travelling to a poll on election day can go to the Churchill Community Centre with their voting kit between 10am and 8pm on November 13th. With 26 people running for positions to help run out town, the X you mark is an important one. Remember, the person you vote for, in your ward, for mayor and for deputy mayor is someone that will be your representative for the next four years. You have read their platforms and read about the debates, you even may have had them knocking at your door. Now is the time to choose who you think will lead our Town into the future over the next four years. Why is the next term so critical? Of course, there is the annexation issue - lands that are to remain untouched by Innisfil and Barrie until 2011. There is the servicing issue of the 400 lands - do we try and make a deal with Barrie, find a made in Innisfil solution, or get the work done and paid for by developers? How about the MURF and the NAB? Members of the previous council got the ball rolling on these two facilities. Who can forget IGAP and the Places to Grow Act? Development, employment, population, facilities and servicing, oh my! When you get your ballot, think back to what you have read about these candidates (you can also go to www.innisfilscope.com and click on back issues for the editions of October 11th and 18th for their profiles). Think about when you met them at your door. Better still, if you are undecided, call them yourself, ask a few questions. I was always told that it never hurts to ask! The next four years are crucial to the Town of Innisfil. Important decisions are to be made, decisions that will help determine the fate, the look, and the lifestyle of our community. Remember, you are not just marking an X beside a name. You are helping to decide the Town's future. It's not just an envelope that is going in the mail. It is a choice that could have a positive outcome, or devastating consequences.
