Signs allowed on town land Dear editor, Two of the ward 3 candidates running for councillor approached me to see if they could put signs on my lawn. Knowing them both personally as good people I agreed. A week or so later Councillor Pring put a sign up on my small corner lot in a subdivision. I understand that technically the front 15' of our property belongs to the town but the other candidates have had the consideration to ask whether or not they could put a sign in front of our house. I took the sign down to find another a few hours later. I took that sign down and had councillor Pring knock at my door to tell me that it was illegal to take the sign down because it is on town land. I wondered why I was the only lucky person on the street to have him put the sign in front of my house without asking. In the end he put the sign on the property right between my house and my neighbor's, again on town land. Generally, a sign on the lawn in front of a house is an indicator of support and I don't support Councillor Pring in his bid for re-election. I'm surprised to see such aggression and determination to place a sign where it's definitely not appreciated. Jodi Thibeault Alcona |
