The importance of municipal elections To all Municipal Voters: After living elsewhere for 25 years I have just moved back into this area. The growth in that period of time has been extensive and sometimes troubling. When I look around and listen to what is upcoming, some good, some not so good, I wonder who is going to lead us into the next very important 4 years. The area (25 yrs ago) was a large closely knit farming community with a spattering of urbanization. Now the picture is changing, with more industry, and more people moving from elsewhere, who want what we have always had, quiet communities and employment close by. I'm sure they, like those of us who have lived here in different times, want a community, where the old and the new can live in a well run municipality, with a voice for all in where we are going in the future. THAT WON'T HAPPEN UNLESS WE GET OUT AND VOTE: There is no more import vote, than your Municipal vote. Why??? Because it is your Municipal Council who determines, where industry is placed in your Township, how your roads are kept up, where new housing goes, your property taxes, etc. In other words allot of your day to day life is in some way directed by your Municipal Council. Make it your responsibility this year, TO VOTE, whether by mail in vote, or personally in a voting booth. Make sure your vote will be for people who will take your concerns to Council for you, and reflect your wishes Beverly Dilliott |
