The gaps in the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority Dear editor, The existence and hard work of this group has certainly left a few big gaps in trying to protect our lake. A very big one is that the chair, Roy Bridge, voted yes for the Big Bay Point Resort without any reservations to wait for the reports on the Environmental Damage to the area, or the damage to Lake Simcoe, which is right on the edge, but seems to be coming back a little. As for the growth allocation for Innisfil, if you take the numbers and divide them up by the 16 townships - there is approximately 9,500 people to come into Innisfil. The Big Bay Point Resort is suppose to hold 9 - 10,000 people. I guess Innisfil cannot put people anywhere else, if that is their allotment for the future. We believe that the Mayors of all the townships meet and discuss the best methods of doing things. Let us pray that the right answers for everyone will be in the plans for the future. Queenie Little, a Big Bay Point resident for 72 years. |
