Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Lakeshore Library
by Michelle Minnoch

The Lakeshore Branch of the Innisfil Public Library held it's 5th Anniversary Celebration Saturday night.

"Tonight is a very special evening of celebrations," said Lillian Owen, Chair of the Innisfil Library Board.

Young people in the community were honoured for their writing talents for their submissions to the annual Seepe Walters Story Writing Contest, volunteers of the various branches were honoured for their time and dedication, and a time capsule was created for the special event.

Chief Librarian Susan Downs said she would like visitors to make the library a place where they can come

and read a book, relax, learn a new skill and meet new people.

lakeshore Branch Manager Marilyn Pillar told the audience that a time capsule would be placed in an archive box and be located somewhere in the library.

Pillar said students from six of the responding eight schools from grades two and

three filled out a questionnaire that would be placed in the capsule. It will be opened in five years when they are graduating grade eight.

"Out of the eight schools we asked, six of them participated," she said. "That means we have responses from 355 students and teachers."
