Failed to remain driver charged with assaulting police officer

Barrie OPP were called to a Fail to Remain minor property damage collision that occurred at 3:10 pm on the Essa Road off ramp from Hwy 400. Two vehicles were stopped at the light at Essa when the front vehicle backed into the vehicle behind it causing minimal damage.

The four female occupants of the front vehicle exited their vehicle and the second driver called police when the four surrounded his vehicle. One began striking the second vehicle, then they entered their vehicle and left the scene. The driver of the second vehicle followed the vehicle to a Ferndale residence.

The OPP officers arrived and advised the driver of the circumstances of the collision investigation and requested her documents. The driver then assaulted the officer and was subsequently arrested and spent the night in the cells at the Barrie OPP detachment.

Charged with Assault Police, Resist Arrest, and Fail to Remain is Christina Bissell, 25, of Port Carling.
