Innisfil man charged with Public Mischief

On October 30, at approximately 5:05p.m. South Simcoe Police received a call from a vehicle owner who had reported the vehicle stolen earlier to Barrie Police that it was parked at a store on Innisfil Beach Rd in the Town of Innisfil. Police arrived on scene and the owner advised police that he located his vehicle and an unknown male occupying the driver's seat had fled on foot. The owner then drove around the area with police trying to locate the unknown male. Later in the evening, police located a male matching the

description of the suspect and through investigation it was learned that the vehicle owner in fact knew the unknown male and that the owner had actually helped unload the so-called 'unknown suspect's' belongings from his vehicle into another friend's vehicle. The owner's vehicle had been damaged when it was loaned to the owner's friend, and the vehicle owner thought it would be easier to repair the damage through a vehicle insurance claim if the vehicle was reported stolen. Police have charged a 58 year old Innisfil male with Public Mischief.
