Cookstown's 2006 Light Up Night

The votes are in; Cookstown 2006 Light Up Night won by acclamation.

For the chimes of Cookstown's United Church, greeting the crowds with carols.

For the delicious ham supper they served at the church hal.

For the Town Crier's proclamation, that the Christmas Season has now started, that a welcome is extended to all the visitors.

For the words of welcome and good wishes from the Mayor of theTown of Innisfil Brian Jackson, councillor Lynn Dollin of Ward 7 and for the assistance in lighting the Tree by Councillors Paul Wardlaw and Gord Wauchope.

For the great work done by members of the Cookstown & District Chamber of Commerce (president Laurie Munroe) in organizing it

For the terrfic job the merchants , businesses, did in decorating their store windows.

For welcoming the huge crowds with snacks and drinks, with specials in their selections for Christmas ornaments and gifts. For showing the visitors what a friendly community Cookstown is.

For the many people's greetings:"nice to see you, how are you; what a lovely night".

For the small and tall elves, for the little reindeers.

For the "Cats" in front of the Library, wagging their tales and handing out treats.

For Santa Claus, who, sitting on his throne at the Post Office, listened to the childrens's wishes.

For the Georgian Bay Steam Show, who with their wonderful parade, gave Light Up Night the proper conclusion.

On behalf of each and everyone, I want to express my respects and gratitude, to all who made this annual event sucha success, something to remember.
