South Simcoe Police Impaired /Over 80 A concerned motorist contacted SSPS to report an erratic driver on the 9th Line of Innisfil. Officers caught up to and stopped the vehicle in question a short time later on Innisfil Beach Rd. A 32 yr old Innisfil man was arrested for Impaired Operation and taken back to the station where breath samples showed his blood alcohol was 3 1/2 times the legal limit of 80 mgs. He was issued a 90 day suspension and has a court date of Dec 14, 2006. He was also charged with Open Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle and a quantity of beer was seized. Vehicle Fire Innisfil Fire and South Simcoe Police responded to a vehicle fire on the 20th Side Road shortly after 7pm. A 1995 Jeep was found to be fully engulfed in fire and was totally destroyed. Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from Barrie the day before. Personal injury motor vehicle collision On Thursday November 16th, at approximately 5:10 pm the South Simcoe Police Service received a 911 call for a motor vehicle collision on Highway 27 at the 3rd concession of Bradford West Gwillembury. Officers arrived on scene to find a van with extensive damage as a result of coming in contact with a large truck towing a 30' boat. A 70 year old male was taken to South Lake Hospital with non life threatening injuries, charges pending further investigation. Impaired Driving On Sunday November 19, police received a call from a number of citizens reporting a white Chev Cavalier driving erratically on Innisfil Beach Road in the Town of Innisfil. The vehicle had exited from Hwy #400 and was followed by witnesses to the 9th Concession of Innisfil where it dead ends at Hwy # 400. The vehicle then proceeded to drive off the road, do several donuts in a corn field, and travel back onto the roadway where it stopped after almost striking a vehicle belonging to a witness. Police attended and spoke to the driver, he was observed to be impaired from the consumption of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the police station where he blew twice the legal limit. While searching the driver, the officers located a small quantity of suspected ecstasy. A 21 year old male from Shanty Bay had been charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 mgs, Dangerous Driving, and Possession of a Controlled Drug. He will appear in a Bradford court in December to answer to the charge. Assault On Saturday November 18, at approximately 1:30 p.m. police were called to a local high school parking lot to meet a female who was reporting an assault by her husband. Officers attended and spoke to the victim who advised her husband had assaulted her during an argument they had a short time earlier. During the argument he allegedly grabbed her by the arm and tried to drag her out of the house. Police attended an address in Bradford and arrested the male. Police have charged a 38 year old Bradford male with assault. He will appear in a Bradford court to answer to the charge. Theft On November 18, at approximately 8:30 p.m. police were called to an Alcona grocery store for a report of a shoplifter. Store employees observed a male in the store attempting to leave with a quantity of steaks and three live lobsters that he had removed from a tank and concealed in his coat. The male was confronted as he left, but took off running until he was apprehended by several citizens a short distance away. Police attended and arrested the male, who was intoxicated and under the influence of drugs. He was transported to the station where he was held until he sobered up. A 23 year old Barrie male was charged with Theft Under $5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property. He will appear in court in December to answer to the charges. Theft of Motor Vehicle Police are investigating the theft of a 2 door blue 2005 Pontiac Sunfire from a parking lot at the rear of a Bradford West Gwillimbury bar on November 18. The owner reported that his son had parked it there early in the morning. When he returned it was gone. Instead of reporting it stolen to police at the time, he hitchhiked home. Police are searching for the vehicle. Intoxicated Public Place On November 20th, while on patrol a South Simcoe Police uniform officer was flagged down by a male on County Rd. 88 in the Town of Bradford. While he flagged the officer down the officer noticed that the male was unsteady on his feet. The officer got out of his patrol car to speak with the male. The officer detected a strong smell of alcohol coming form the male. The officer immediately arrested the male for Public Intox. and for the safety of himself as he was travelling on a busy roadway in rush hour traffic. The officer ran the male and found him to be on conditions not to consume alcohol. The 21 year old Newmarket man was also charged for breaching his conditions for curfew and he was not to have any nonprescribed drugs on him. He was held for a bail hearing in the morning. Robbery On Monday, November 20th, at approx. 1600 hrs a male walked into the South Simcoer Police Service and advised officers that he had just been robbed at knife point by 4 males. The victim advised that he was walking home from school and 4 males came up to him and one of the males threw a drink at him. He advised police that he just kept on walking towards his house ignoring the males. One male questioned him what was in his pocket. The victim advised that he didn't respond to them and he kept on walking. The victim was approx. 20 feet from his residence when all 4 males ran up to him again and one male said to the victim give me the IPod thats in your pocket. Another male stated "give me your IPod, or I'll stab you with my knife." The victim again didn't respond. One male produced a knife and the victim turned over his IPod to them. The victim attended directly to the police station to report the incident. Officers located a 20 year old Bradford male and arrested him a short distance from the Police Service. He was held for a bail hearing. Police are still looking for three other suspects. The investigation continues.
