Farms of Innisfil book unveiling Friday

This Friday, December 8th, the Innisfil Historical Society will be unveiling their book Farms of Innisfil; Challenges, Chores and Changes at the Churchill Community, beginning at 2pm.

This timely account of the farms in Innisfil features the stories of over 250 farms, along with hundreds of pictures of farms and farm life. Farm-related businesses are included, along with activities that were/are important to the farming community.

You'll reading about the challenges of farming, the ongoing chores and the changes that the farming industry has experienced, as well as the rewards of farm life.

Who remembers the cream separator, the Beef Ring, 4-H Clubs, the Copaco, farming with horses, stone picking, school fairs, Jr. farmers, The family Herald, The Farmer's Advocate?

Did you know that some modern farming practices include the use of GPS

Autosteer equipment, computerized record keeping, milking parlours, feedlots, air-conditioned tractor cabs, robotic fork lifts, automated sorters?

These and many more topics have been written about by the farm families of Innisfil.

The book launch for the Farms of Innisfil will be taking place at the Churchill Community centre from 2:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, December 8th, with the official book unveiling ceremony at 2:30 pm. Alternate pick up dates for the book at the Knock House on Monday, December 11th and 18th, and Thursday, December 14th and 21st.

There will also be a book launch with a slide presentation of area farms on Saturday, December 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Spoke in Sandy Cove (north side).

On Sunday, December 10th, the books can also be purchased at the Victorian Christmas at Simcoe County Museum from 1:00 to 4:30.
