Unusual break and enter

Essa Twp - On Thursday, just before 11 p.m., a resident on Brian Ave. in Angus, contacted Nottawasaga OPP to report what she thought was a possible break and enter in progress when noises were heard outside and a car horn honking.

Police arrived minutes later to find a "break" had occurred and so had an "enter" but not within the usual definition or

circumstances. The Police found a motor vehicle perched on the complainant's front lawn and a 4-foot by 6-foot hole in the one corner of that residence's foundation into the basement. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was initially southbound on Tarbush Ave., disobeyed the stop sign, and entered the south ditch struck a tree, deflected off and slamming into this residence coming to rest on the front lawn.

The driver of the vehicle was transported by ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle was demolished. The residence sustained $10,000 - $15,000 in damage.

Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Fail To Provide A Breath Sample is 47 year old Ian Smith of Innisfil.
