Little returns to chair Corporate Services committee Adjala-Tosorontio deputy mayor Doug Little will return to chair the Corporate Services committee at Simcoe county council. Little was acclaimed for another one year term last Tuesday. He had previously served as chair of the committee for the past three years. The committee will have New Tecumseth mayor Mike MacEachern as its vice-chair. In the only voting that occurred during the selection of committee chairs and vice chairs, MacEachern defeated Collingwood deputy mayor Sandra Copper and Ramara mayor Bill Duffy as vice-chair. MacEachern told county councillors that he wanted to serve on the Corporate Services committee as a way of broadening his experience with the County of Simcoe. "I have served two years on the Performance Management committee," he said. Among other areas, the Corporate Services committee has responsibility for planning, county forests, waste management and roads. In the other two major committees, Penetanguishene mayor Anita Dubeau will serve as chair of the Performance Management committee with Severn mayor Mike Sled as deputy chair while Midland mayor Jim Downer will serve as as chair of the Human Services committee and Severn deputy mayor Judith Cox will serve as deputy chair. All of these positions were acclaimed. All terms as chairs and deputy chairs are for one year. |
