Fraud Alert
Phoney Lottery

The South Simcoe Police would like to remind the public to be on the look out for a possible scam surrounding a suspected phoney lottery. Police received a report from a 75 year old Innisfil resident after she received a letter that was addressed to her husband advising him that he had won a lottery in the amount of $30,790,500.00. It further indicated there were five winners, and in order to claim a share of the money the recipient had to forward copies of his

Driver's Licence, Passport, and banking information by fax to a Lotto Commission in Spain. The complainant indicated they had not entered any lottery of type and was very suspicious that this was a scam targeting seniors.

If you receive a letter such as this never give out your personal information as it may be used to gain access to your bank accounts, assume your identity, or other illegitimate purposes.
