Reversing driver impaired

A 45 year old male driver from the Barrie area was driving northbound on Hwy. 400, when he missed his exit and drove 40 kilometers past his designation.

Witnesses reported him driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 400, north of Moonstone.

When police arrived, he was reversing in the passing lane, driving backwards, towards Hwy. 400.

Police arrested the male for dangerous driving, impaired operation and over 80.

The driver was three times over the legal limit. The male driver was held at the Barrie OPP until released the next morning.

Police located several empty liquor bottles on the passenger seat of the drivers vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as David Mullins, 45 of Barrie. He has a February 5th court date in Barrie.

Police encourage drivers to have designated drivers. Police will continue the RIDE program throughout the holiday season and into the new year.
