Reader: Costs should be covered by perpetrator

Good day to you

I have read the article that was printed in December 27th regarding the swan that had its wing injured. I am a very compassionate person when it comes the our little creatures no matter what they are. I would like to make a suggestion to Brian Gibbon or whomever it needs to go to. I believe that the person that intentionally hurt the swan should pay and in this case I believe that he should pay all costs that are incurred in order for the swan to have its life back. Perhaps this is justice for the swan. Please forward this to whomever it should go. Thanks for listening.

A concerned citizen.

Editor's note:

The swan, JJ, is doing well. Annhurst Wildlife in Burlington has donated $2000 to help cover the cost of the surgery and the pen for JJ.

A permanent pen has to be built to keep JJ away from the other swan's while she is recovering. She does have a respiratory infection, but I have been told by a naturalist that those types of infections are common in captivity.

The Scope will keep the readers informed as to the sentencing of the individual who attacked the bird on Lake Simcoe and the health of JJ.

Anyone interested in donating to help cover JJ's costs can call the Toronto Wildlife Centre at (416) 631-0662 or Wye Marsh at (705) 526-7809.
