Cookstown Notes.....

by Susan Stein

Surprise Party

There will be a surprise 60th birthday party for our old friend and neighbour Wally Currie, given by his family on Sat. Feb. 24th, with an Open House from 7-9 pm at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 2840 10th Sideroad (Middletown Sdrd.). There will be birthday cake, fellowship with friends and family and a chance to tell funny incidents, and memories about him.

Please let other neighbours and fellow school chums know about the party. Let your presence be your present!.

Directions to the church: Exit Hwy 400 at Hwy 88 East. At 10th Sideroad (stoplight), go north approx. 1 km. St. John's is on the west side. See you there.

Staying in touch

On Friday, February 9th, members of the ACW of St. John's Anglican Church, members of The Newton Robinson Boosters and friends met at the New Penny Restaurant for lunch with Mabel Riley.

Mabel, who now resides in Ottawa, came for a short visit with her friends from Cookstown. It was great to hear how well she has adjusted to her new surroundings having joined a Quilting and Crafts group, and the congregation of the nearby Anglican Church and taking part in their outings and trips. It is also nice to have daughter Joanne living in the neighbourhood and occasionally talk to Olive Butt (formerly of Cookstown) who lives now in Perth. All the best Mable, hope to see you again soon.
