Essa asks for expansion of green organic program

by Richard Blanchard

Essa council will ask Simcoe county to expand its collection of green organic waste program to the township.

Council agreed last week to send a letter to Simcoe county's Environmental Services department about the likelihood of putting the program into place in the township in the near future. Mayor Dave Guergis said that he had been asked by residents about the program. "A letter may get the county moving on this program," he said. The program, which allows the pickup of a variety of compostable materials including kitchen waste, has been in place in Adjala-Tosorontio for the past 3 years.
