News from the GICC - Innisfil celebrates exceptional businesses

A sell-out crowd was on hand at the Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards Gala held Friday February 23 at National Pines. The evening began with a sumptuous dinner of Filet Mignon and Chicken Supreme. Heather MacDonald, Chamber President, welcomed everyone to the annual celebration of Chamber successes and outstanding businesses and individuals in the community.

Scotiabank in Alcona was honoured as the 2006 Business of the Year. The Retail Business Award went to Cellar Wines in Stroud; the Service Business Award was presented to Dave Dobinson Excavating; the Manufacturing/Industrial Business Award winner was Tarpin Lumber; the Marketing & Promotion Award was given to OLG Slots at Georgian Downs; the Entrepreneur of Year Award went to Pearson McCuaig Engineering Ltd; and the New Business of the Year Award was presented to Innisfil Denture Clinic.

Two outstanding individuals were acknowledged for their tireless volunteer work in the community with the Community Award: Donna Orsatti for her efforts with MURF fundraising and Heather MacDonald, CEO of Peoples Credit Union, for her efforts with MURF fundraising as well as her other charity and community involvement .

After the award presentations, the evening continued with a night of dancing to the music of HiFISeoul.
