Council looking at rate of speed on town roads

by Michelle Minnoch

Town staff has reviewed the Rate of Speed by-law, 055-94, and have determined a general review was needed. Under the Highway Traffic Act, Section 128, a council can designate a rate of speed for any highway that is under their jurisdiction.

Council has received a copy of the Rate of Speed by-law and comments are expected back by May 16th. They also received summaries of all current rates of speed posted within the Town of Innisfil.

According to Staff Report PDS-059-07, "it was found that the Town's current Rate of Speed by-law 055-94, and subsequent amendments, did not represent current road situations as a result of numerous revisions over the years."
