Lefroy/Belle Ewart News

by Linda Gerow

As some of you may know, I spent this past weekend at the Elvis Festival in Collingwood. This was my tenth year attending and I consider it to be the best to date. I especially enjoy meeting my friends from the United States because I don't always see them through the year, but I know they are going to be there in July. As usual, it was fun, fun, fun from beginning to end, from the Friday night street dance to the Sunday night finals. This year's winner in the professional division (Concert Years) was Jay Zanier and I'm sure if you want to know any other details you can find them on the website at www.collingwoodelvisfestival. com.

Innisfil Pipes and Drums: Practice takes place at the Belle Ewart Legion Branch 547 every Monday at 7 p.m. New members are always welcome. Contact Ken at 705-456-3717 for information. Over the years, many people have been taught how to play...why not come out and see what it's all about. Visit their website atwww.innisfilpipesanddrums. ca

The Annual Lefroy United Church Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 8th at the Inniscreek Golf Club (400 & 89, beside KOA). The cost is $85 which includes golf, cart and steak dinner.

There will be lots of prizes and for those of you who do no golf, just come out for the dinner for $30. If you can donate a prize or sponsor a hold, call Ray Janse (705) 456-0270 or Cheryl LeLiever at (705) 456-3139.

Newfoundland Dinner/Dance: Mark your calendars for October 20th, when there will be a Newfie Dinner/Dance at the South Simcoe Community Centre, formerly known as Lefroy Arena.

Emmie has been working hard on the preparations and has told me that all tickets will be $15 which will be available in September. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and a buffet dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m. Entertainment is live music along with Newfoundland skits during the desserts. There will be only one door prize....but a good one!!! The fun will end at 1 p.m. We advise that this is for adults only.

Further updates will become available to me when Emmie and Fred return from the rock!!
