Break in at The Dragoon in Cookstown The Dragoon, a Cookstown store selling various collector’s items, was broken into during the night of December 29th. Store owner Steve Graham says the suspect( s) got away with about $5 in pennies, maybe $25 in total. Gaining access through the front door, which is located on Queen Street, the suspect( s) removed the cash register from the rear of the business. A neighbour called the police upon hearing some noise. “They twisted the lock off of the front door,” said Graham of the suspect(s). A former policeman, Graham says he and other merchants should use the message to get a new style of lock on the front of their businesses. “I have to speak highly of the South Simcoe Police,” he said, adding a dog from York Region was brought in to aid in the investigation. He says the SSP has been following up with him and he says the force is excellent. Graham also would like to add that Innisfil Locksmith, located on Lockhart Road, did a very good job in replacing the lock and getting the door back in order for the next days business. Graham has now installed the Rotweiller Alarm System in The Dragoon, in case there is another unexpected over night visitor. The South Simcoe Police is asking that if anyone has any information regarding this crime, to call (705) 436-2141 or (905) 775- 3311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. |
