Cookstown's Lynn Dollin New Years message Lynn Dollin-Councillor Ward 7 As I reflect over the past year, I am reminded of what a busy year 2006 was. An in depth official plan review, a master servicing study and Provincial government initiatives such as "Places to Grow" and "IGAP" kept our council on its toes. We broke ground on a new recreational facility and a new administration centre, both of which will be completed in 2007. It was also a very emotional year. Cookstown Curling Club celebrated its 50th anniversary, and I will never forget the opening night of our fair. We said farewell to many long time residents that are sorely missed by family and friends. Election years traditionally provide lots of excitement and interest and I was thrilled to see such a number of candidates and such a large voter turn out. I enjoyed talking to many of you, some for the first time and very much appreciate the confidence you have shown in me, providing me with a mandate for the next years. I look forward to 2007 with enthusiasm. I hope that much of the ground work we have in place will finally start to show some results. I will continue to work towards our new library, road and infrastructure improvements, and encouraging MTO to stay on track with a Cookstown by pass. Our firefighters are looking forward to a new pumper truck for the Cookstown station. I will be asking you for your assistance early in the year to attend an Ontario Municipal Board hearing in order to make sure that our resident's needs are met before developers. You will hear more about this from me in the near future. In closing I wish to take this opportunity to once again, thank you all for your involvement in your community. I couldn't do it without you. Happy New Year! |
