News from the Cookstown Chamber

Laurie Munroe - President of Cookstown & District Chamber of Commerce:

The Cookstown & District Chamber of Commerce has enjoyed a very successful year and is looking forward to assisting with some improvements for the village in 2007. Our annual Wing Ding, Golf Tournament and Light up Night were all wonderfully organized and went off without a hitch. Volunteers worked very hard to beautify our village for the different seasons and they are to be commended.

Brandee Wickett was president for our chamber for the first half of 2006 and all of 2005. During this time, Brandee succeeded in bringing our chamber together and motivating all members to keep improving our organization. Thank you Brandee, you will be missed.

The executive for 2007 is as follows: President - Laurie Munroe, Vice president - Darlene Cooper, Secretary - Barb Bagulay, Treasurer - Marleen Langdon, Director - Maria Gray, Director - Ingrid Schnieke, Membership Chairperson - Nancy Hildebrand.

The bylaws of the Cookstown Chamber state that "Any reputable person, directly or indirectly engaged or interested in trade, commerce or economic welfare of the District, shall be eligible for membership in the Chamber".

The Chamber would welcome members from the community who meet these requirements to join our organization. We have always tried to work with non-profit groups in the area and would love to hear ideas/suggestions from the community on what they would like to see done in the Cookstown District. Volunteers are always needed on our various committees, please contact Laurie Munroe for more information at 458-9212 (705)

The Cookstown Chamber of Commerce would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year
