THURSDAY, JANUARY 18TH The Prostate Cancer Support Group, Man to Man, will be meeting at 7:30 pm at the Canadian Cancer Society Office, 64 Cedar Point Druve, Unit 1406 in barrie. The group meets on the third Thursday of every month. Ladies are welcome and will meet separately. For more information, call (705) 726-8032. The Alzheimer Society of Greater Simcoe County will be holding a meeting at The Spoke in Sandycove Acres between 1 - 3 pm. Caring for somone with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia can be a challenging yet rewarding journey. The monthly caregiver support meeting is a place where caregivers can discuss issues and successes in a confidential and supportive wnvironment. For futher information, call the Society at (705) 722-1066. SATURDAY, JANUARY 20TH The Innisfil Historical Society will be meeting at 2pm at the Churchill Community Centre. Heather Krik, local writer, will speak on her biography Mazo de la Rocke, who wrote 16 novels of the fictional Jalna book series, based on family roots in the Innisfil area. The Barrie Ballroom Dance Club will hold their monthly dance from 8pm until midnight at the ANAF Hall, 7 George Street in Barrie. Admission, which includes a late night snack and coffee, is $12 for members, $18 for non members. Please note - nEW VENUE. The Annual General Meeting at 7pm precedes the dance. TUESDAY, JANUARY 23RD Bond Head Old Tyme Fiddle Club will be holding their monthly Fiddle Dance and jam session. All musicians, listeners and dancers are welcome. THURSDAY, JANUARY 25TH The Simcoe County Quilt Guild will meet at 1pm at the ANAF Club on George Street in Barrie. This month's guest speaker is karen McCleary, a long time meber, whose topic will be Top Ten Tips. SATURDAY, JANUARY 27TH Essa Historical Society meets at the Thornton Library on Robert Street in Thornton at 1:30 pm. The topic is Show and Tell. Roll Call is to bring your favourite oldie. The Barrie Parents of Twins & More, all Simcoe County, is hosting our next prenatal and post natal information session from 5:30 - 8:30 pm at the Zehrs on Big Bay Point Road in the Community Room. This informative session covers nutrition during pregnancy, doctors care, hospital issues, preparing for birth and for coming home, and breastfeeding multiple babies among other topics. MONDAY, JANUARY 29TH The Cookstown Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meetings will be held at the South Simcoe Police service outlet at the Cookstown Mall. The meeting starts at 6:45 pm - all are welcome to attend. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH The Simcoe County Arts and Crafts Association will be holding a craft sale at 1pm at the Simcoe County Museum. Bring craft supplies, books, magazines or craft items you have started and never finished, or don't want anymore. Label items with your name clearly and have the price marked before you arrive. Sale starts promptly at 1pm. This is a fundraiser for SCACA, so SCACA will take 15% of the sale price and you will get the remainder. The cost is $7 for non members, $5 for members. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH The York-Simcoe Naturalists Group will hold a General Meeting at 7:30 pm. The speaker will be Christina Sharp, East Holland Watershed Coordinator at the LSRCA. She will be talking about the East Holland River restoration projects and initiatives that are taking place in the sub watershed. The meeting will take place in the River Drive Park Community Centre, 20 Oak Avenue in River Drive Park (off the Queensville Side Road, north of Holland Landing) Refreshments will be served. This is a community event geared towards all ages, and to all who enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea, espresso and as well as some delicious desserts such as cakes, muffins, biscotti and much more.
