Dangerous Driving/ Assault

On Wednesday January 10, 2007 at approximately 4:45p.m. South Simcoe Police responded to the area of County Road 4 and Dissette Street in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury regarding individuals that were fighting. Upon police arriving on scene, it was learned that the altercation was the result of an earlier driving infraction. A vehicle was being driven in an erratic and dangerous manner while tailgating another vehicle that was driving along Dissette Street; this vehicle then passed the lead vehicle and when the vehicles came to a stop at the traffic lights at Dissette Street and County Road 4, the driver of the vehicle being driven erratically exited his vehicle and confronted the driver of the second vehicle who was then punched several times. Police have charged a 59 year old Innisfil male with Dangerous Driving and Assault. The male was released from custody and he has a date in Bradford Court on February 8, 2007.

Fail to Comply with Release Order

South Simcoe Police have charged a 14 year old Innisfil female with Failing to Comply with a Judicial Interim Release Order after the youth's mother called police to advise that her daughter was not attending school or abiding by house rules as ordered by Barrie Youth Court. The youth has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on January 11, 2007.

Domestic Arrest

A 36 year old Essa Township man was arrested at his former Bradford business for Threatening Death and Threatening to Destroy Property when a dispute occurred between the male and his former wife. The former wife had gone to the business to inventory property when she was confronted by her former husband. Male was held for a Bail Hearing in Barrie on 12 January 2007.

Impaired by Drug Arrest - Innisfil

For the second time in a week, South Simcoe Police arrested a 48 year old Innisfil man for Impaired Driving while under the influence of drugs. At approximately 12:58 PM the accused was observed driving in an erratic manner and stopped. The accused who registered a "0" blood alcohol reading was examined by a qualified Drug Recognition Expert who concluded the accused ability to drive was impaired by drugs. The accused had previously been arrested on January 4th, 2007 by South Simcoe Police for the offence of Impaired Driving while under the influence of drugs. The accused who had been previously released on bail conditions has been held for a Bail Hearing on 12 January 2007.

Impaired Driving

On Sunday January 14, 2007 at approximately 8:30 p.m. police observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on County Road 4 in the Village of Stroud, Town of Innisfil. The vehicle was stopped and the officer spoke to the driver. While in conversation with the driver the officer detected an odour of alcohol on his breath, and observed that he had red, watery eyes. A roadside screening device test was performed, resulting in a fail.

The driver was arrested for Over 80 mgs and taken to the police station where two breath tests were performed. Both tests registered above the legal blood/alcohol limit. As a result, a 35 year old Barrie resident was charged with Over 80 mgs.

His vehicle was towed and he was given an automatic 90 day licence suspension. He will appear in a Bradford court in February to answer to the charge.

Breach of Recognizance

On Saturday January 13, 2007 at approximately 11:55 p.m. an officer with the South Simcoe Police Service stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on County Road 4 in the Town of Innisfil. The officer subsequently spoke to the driver and his female passenger. Investigation revealed that the driver was on bail conditions not to associate or communicate with the female passenger. He was also to observe a curfew of 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily. As a result a 25 year male from Scarborough was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Breach of Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing on January 14, 2007.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

On Sunday January 14, 2007 at approximately 2:50 a.m. police responded to a report of a disturbance on John St. W. in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Upon arrival, the officers located an intoxicated female that had been fighting.

A second female was also at the residence. The second female was spoken to by an officer who asked her for I.D. When she pulled her wallet out of her purse, several small bags of marihuana fell out. She was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the station. She was released from custody and will appear in a Bradford court in February to answer to the charge.

Domestic Assault

On Saturday January 13, 2007 at approximately 9:00 p.m. police responded to a domestic dispute in the village of Gilford, Town of Innisfil. Upon arrival, officers could clearly see through a window that a couple was arguing and a female was punching a male in the head. Officers entered the home and arrested her for assault. Investigation revealed that the couple were invloved in a long term relationship, but the female did not live at the residence. They had consumed a large quantity of alcohol and the female had become angry about something in her past. The male asked her to calm down or leave. She continued on in the same manner and then refused to leave when asked to by the male.

He then placed her property outside and dragged her out the door. She started to kick the windows of the house. The victim, fearing damage to the house, let her back in and was assaulted. A 46 year old female from Bradford was charged with Assault. She was released from custody and will appear in a Bradford court in March to answer to the charge.

Charges Laid in Pedestrian Struck Collision

The South Simcoe Police Service has completed their investigation into a pedestrian struck motor vehicle collision which occurred on January 5th in Bradford, at approximately 6pm.

Police report that a pedestrian, a 55 year old Bradford women was walking eastbound on John Street East crossing the intersection of Church Street. At the same time, a 38 year Bradford women was operating her vehicle northbound on Church Street and did not see the pedestrian crossing.

The pedestrian was struck by the car and knocked to the ground.

She was taken to South Lake Hospital in Newmarket with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

On January 14th, police charged the driver with Careless Driving. She will be appearing in Bradford Provincial Court on February 16th.

Youth Complaint

Police were called to attend a street in Alcona for a report of several youths throwing snowballs at passing vehicles.

South Simcoe Police wish to remind people that motor vehicle collisions and/or injuries could occur and the people responsible could face criminal charges as a result.
