Police seeking public's help in attempted Cookstown abduction

On January 15, 2007 at approximately 4:20pm South Simcoe Police responded to the Cookstown Public School to a report of an attempted abduction of a school child walking home after school.

The child was walking south on County Road #27, just south of the Cookstown Public School. The 11 year old child was approached by a person in a vehicle. The male driver and only occupant of the motor vehicle attempt to force the child into the vehicle.

Suspect Description:

- Male, white, approximately 5'5" medium build with possible beer belly, age in 30's.

- Black hair possibly hanging down covering top of face.

- Tanned face

- N.B. SUSPECT HAS A VERY UNIQUE & UNUSUAL Moustache and Goatee beard. Described Goatee being approximately 2 inches long and tied in a ponytail with a purple ribbon or elastic band just below the chin. Describes moustache as not connecting to goatee on sides of mouth.

- Suspect wearing black rimmed "Old Fashioned" styled looking sunglasses, glasses had a yellow and a brown rim around the outside of the lenses near the black frames.

- Wearing new clean hooded winter bomber style coat, body of coat dark gray, black puffy arms and sleeves, with a full white stripe down each side of coat under each arm. Hood over head at time of incident.

- Wearing black pants with tight fitting bottoms near ankles.

- Wearing red and black baseball/soccer style shoes.

- Suspect wearing very tight fitting "Pinky" ring on the baby finger of his right hand. Ring described as a silver band.

Vehicle Description:

Newer style car, 4 doors, medium dark blue in colour, possibly a Toyota Yaris.

Partial Licence plate of A 1 1 - ? ? ?

South Simcoe Police are seeking the Public's assistance with this investigation. Anyone who may have been a witness, or was in the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the South Simcoe Police Criminal Investigations Bureau.
