Reports of suspicious vehicles in child inhabited areas

Over the past several weeks it seems the number of reports to Police has increased of "suspicious vehicles" lurking around schools and areas where young children inhabit is of great concern and something Nottawasaga OPP officers always take extremely seriously.

Public safety is primary for Officers especially where those who may require more safety measures and protection - like children and seniors - are involved. Nottawasaga OPP continues to encourage these calls from the members of the public striving together for a safer community for everyone.

Unfortunately, what seems to be occurring following the sighting of some suspicious or lurking vehicles and suspects, is an undue delay in reporting incidents to police. There have been a couple incidents where 2-3 hours have lapsed before the police receive the information. Although thorough patrols of the area to locate the suspects / vehicles are done by the officers, the lapse in reporting the incident forthwith make locating a vehicle and the investigation much more difficult.

Police are asking the members of public to continue reporting suspicious vehicle and suspicious persons in the community for investigation. Tips like this could prevent an assault, abduction, break and enter, theft or mischief. It's all valuable information.

The key is to "REPORT FORTHWITH / IMMEDIATELY" to police to ensure the best possible investigation can be conducted.
