Driver charged in two vehicle collision

Essa Twp - On Sunday, a two motor vehicle collision occurred on the 5th Sideroad of Essa Township at the 10th Line that resulted in one driver being charged.

A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pick up truck was northbound on the 10th line and stopped at the stop sign at the 5th Sideroad. A 2004 Pontiac Sunfire was eastbound on the 5th Sideroad approaching the same intersection when the Chevrolet truck pulled onto the 5th Sideroad in the path of the Sunfire to proceed westbound. The driver of the Sunfire, Sandra Small of Cookstown, braked and attempted to avoid the collision but in the attempt lost control and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the truck, Alfred Stewart of Staynor was charged for Start from Stop Position, not in Safety, resulting in a 3 Demerit Points added to his licence and a fine of $110. Damage to the truck was minor but the Pontiac was towed.
