News from the Great Innisfil Chamber of Commerce

Innisfil Annual Business Awards

The Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce is proud to be hosting their 14th annual Business Awards on February 23, 2007.

It is a well-known fact that "great people make a great community," and Innisfil is no exception. If you would like to nominate a business that you feel deserves recognition for their efforts during the past year (2006), please drop into the Chamber of Commerce office and fill out a nomination form. Forms can also be found at all four Innisfil libraries or on the chamber website www.innisfilchamber.com.

Nominations may be received in any one of the following eight categories:

Business of the Year Award - presented to a company of excellence who is acknowledged in all facets of business, as well as for its contributions to the Town and the business community of Innisfil.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award - an award presented to a business who honours the entrepreneurial spirit and enterprising attitude of an individual or business.

New Business of the Year Award - this recognition is awarded to a business new to the Town, who is committed to making Innisfil its home, continuing to help build community and enriching the Innisfil business community as a whole.

Retail Business Award - an acknowledgement of a retail business who excels in promoting and furthering all facets of business within the Town of Innisfil.

Manufacturing/Industrial Business Award - within the industrial or manufacturing sector, a business who stands out as a good corporate citizen.

Service Business Award - an award to be set apart from a retail business nomination. To be presented to a local "service" business, for excellence in the service industry.

Marketing and Promotions Award - presented to a local company for its ability to market and promote themselves while at the same time, enhancing and enriching the business community.

From the outside looking in, a strong and vibrant community is deemed to be successful when there is a co-operative spirit of communication between the Council and the local businesses. The Town of Innisfil is one such community.

While local business is integral to the pulse of the community, without the volunteer sector, the enthusiasm the residents feel would be absent. To that end there is one more category which should be recognized, that being, The Community Award.

The nominee for this very special award should be presented to an Innisfil resident or organization who has made an exemplary contribution to the community through either volunteer work or involvement in charity and community activities. Prior award winners include Deputy Mayor Gord Wauchope, Donna Wice from the Historical Society and Wendy Blair, a local resident who volunteers and nurtures our youth.

The success of this event is based on the variety of nominations which are presented to the panel of judges. Please consider carefully your nomination. We are honouring the cream of the crop in our community.
