THORNTON NEWS

Thursday, February 8th, is the next Barrie Thornton Old Time Fiddlers Night. It will be held at the Lions Hall and the admission price is $3 per adult and children are free.

The doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. sharp. All fiddlers, singers, callers, dancers and listeners are welcome. Call Cec Denney for more information at 458-9996.

The Thornton Area Action Committee is holding its annual Valentine's Dance on Saturday, February 10th. It will be held upstairs at the Thornton Community Arena starting at 8 p.m. For just $12.50 per person you can dance the night away to the sounds of DJ "Keep Them Dancing."

There will be spot dances and door prizes and a full lunch served at 11 a.m. For tickets and information you can call Terry at 458-9054 or me at 458-0869.

The Literacy Council of South Simcoe is dedicated to promoting and providing literacy skills in the community.

They are offering, confidential tutoring to adults in reading, writing, math and computer basics. For more information call (705) 435-5624 or email lcss@bellnet.ca.

A Job Fair hosted by CONTACT will be held at the Alliston Arena on Tuesday, February 20 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. If you are interested in finding employment in South Simcoe, this maybe a good place to look.

Some of the local businesses that will be there include Shoppers Drug Mart, McDonald's, Adecco, the Canadian Armed Forces and many more.
